West Virginia police has informed that a homeless man has been charged in a machete attack on another homeless man, who had then been thrown into a frigid river.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail had reported that the attack took place on January 8, morning in the Kanawha City section of Charleston.

Charleston police Lt. Steve Cooper said that a 23 years old Brandon Thompson of Charleston had been charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding. According to Cooper 19 years old victim Brandon Robinson has not yet been located and could be dead. A police diver search had been suspended due to cold temperatures.

Cooper said that according tothe witnesses Thompson reportedly hit Robinson repeatedly with a machete, stomped on his head, then dragged him and threw him in the Kanawha River.

Thompson had beenrushed to the South Charleston Regional Jail to await arraignment. Jail records not yet has indicatedif he had an attorney.
