The BCCI officials announced the schedule for IPL 2021 and the tournament commences on April 9th. The officials discussed for weeks and finalized the schedules. BCCI wanted to limit the amount of travel for the players and hence the venues are restricted. For this neutral venues are finalized and the franchises of IPL 2021 are unhappy with the schedule. Some of the franchises argue that this move would turn an advantage for some of the players and their teams as playing at a neutral venue will surely be an advantage. It is unclear as of now if the BCCI reconsiders the decision as some of the franchises are not convinced with the decision.

This will be the last IPL for MS Dhoni. Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai will host 10 matches each and Delhi will host eight matches. Ahmedabad will host 12 matches including the playoffs. The afternoon games will start at 3:30 PM IST and the evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST. All the matches will take place in closed doors as of now. Allowing the spectators into the stadium will be decided at a later date depending on the cases of coronavirus. The league matches will take place between April 9th and May 23rd. The first qualifier will take place on May 25th and the first Eliminator will take place on May 26th. The second qualifier will take place on May 28th and the final of IPL 2021 will take place on May 30th.
