Anaconda found in Virginia toilet!

After the Animal Welfare League of Arlington in Virginia on December 27, a call came regarding a snake in a toilet in an apartment building in the county. An officer immediaely ventured out to the scene and she had returned with a juvenile yellow anaconda.

The snake, which has since been dubbed Sir Hiss, had been likely someone’s pet, and it had been either abandoned or managed to get out of its enclosure, said the Chelsea Lindsey, communications specialist for the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

Lindsey said  that Anacondas have been constrictors native to South America, and generally like the water. That was what likely drew it to the toilet. She said that it was unclear whether it came through the pipes or simply made its way to the bathroom and then slithered into the toilet.

Lindsey added , “If only he could talk,”.

According to Lindsey, while it was not illegal for people to own constrictors like an anaconda in Arlington County, anyone considering taking on such a pet should be cautious and must do research first.
